Perseverance

So I don’t really know much about blogging (maybe that’s obvious to you so far ;-)).  I thought I should do a bit of research to see what makes a good blog.  As usual with the internet I looked at so many things and got taken to many different blogs and advice.  But I did happen to come across this blog post and thought it somewhat appropriate to my journey, click here.

Annabel discusses 10 ways to get the life you want.  There is also a link to a blog post about finding your dream (or as I like to call it, my passion).  One of the ideas that resonated with me was ‘staying focused’ and that it could take a long time to achieve your goals.  Now I have had a lengthy discussion with Stephen on this very topic.  When I mentioned I wanted to start a blog to write about this journey he spoke to me about perseverance.  And that if I was going to do something like this it takes work and I need to commit to it and will need to persevere with this.  Mmmmm is this my husband trying to burst my bubble….or does he know what I’m like.  I must admit, I do like having a new project and a new idea and I do get bored easily.  But, is this any reason not to try to follow a passion?  Maybe I just haven’t found my passion yet and thus why I am always looking for a new project.

  1. Fear of failure and self doubt are often the biggest stumbling blocks. I think somewhere deep down most of us know what it is we want...but for whatever reasons we hide it, submerge it and then later on struggle to find it or recognise it again and then give up looking.

Perseverance is a good thing, something I am quite stubborn about...I like to see things through, no matter how hard it gets. Perseverance will also help you find your passion...keep looking till you do...don't give up!

  2. Hey Vicki,

Thanks for your words of wisdom. Every time I read your blog I’m so inspired and in awe of what you’re doing over there. You definitely didn't give up and it sounds like you still love it over there. Any plans to visit back this way soon?

  3. Yes I do love it here and at this stage have no regrets. Sometimes I am impatient and want things to move a bit faster but I think everything has its own timing. 2012 will be the year that the renovation happens and hopefully the business gets up and running, I doubt that I will get back to Aust for a visit before 2013. My children will all be here for this Christmas with their partners, I am very much looking forward to that...hopefully it will be a white one.

Are you still coming to UK for the Olympics perhaps I can entice you to make a little detour this way.
